MELLOW MIND

Lost my dream when you looked me in the eyes
In you I thought I found a new dream, it was just a lie
Truth to a lifetime now the choices was mine

Mellow mind
You gave me the fruit to try
But then you put me to the side

Lost my way in your shallow game
Thought I found another soul to connect to mine
Alone got to work through these lonely days

Mellow mind
You gave me friendship in my mind
Too afraid to tell what I felt inside

Lost my sight saw no wrong in you
Go out of my way with feeling to prove
It was strange to me it was all new

Mellow mind
You gave me loneliness
Did you take back everything you said

Lost my feeling and everything I believed in
For a long time thought we could be friends
Have not heard a word from you ever again

DIASPORA GUILT

Is this what my ancestors felt
When leaving their homes for a better world
No longer I am on the path they took

Diaspora guilt
Now history is a bitter pill
Dreams scheduled to be killed

No compensation for the hate
Ignorance is the only food they ate
With another serving on their plate

Diaspora guilt
Now the truth is a bitter pill
No standing up for it get out your cameras and film

The privilege can't feel any pain
They have no sense of shame
It is always the victim they blame

Diaspora guilt
Now education is a bitter pill
The blooming youth just die and wilt

Reading, writing, and arithmetic no longer the way
Now it is only words of hate anyone can say
Thoughts and prayers will not make a new day

MUSE ME

I can't lie what I am feeling inside
I would hide the words that I write
Some times so embarrassed I could die

Muse me
Inspire what I think
Inspire what I dream

You changed for the attention
For me to see you is a form of affection
Now I don't see you the same way, you lost my attention

Muse me
Inspire what I see
Inspire what I feel

Poetic words drip from his lips
As the needle on the album skips
Every word visual you know it is his

Muse me
Inspire the fire in me
Inspire something I can believe

One day your mixing drinks
So much with your dark eyes, you see
Now you call-out the commander and chief

Muse me
Inspire revolutionary dreams
Inspire them into reality

Lies feed on the plasma of the uneducated mind
The ego thrives as the communities hide
Facts with conviction will win the fight

Muse me
Inspire the need to just be
Inspiration should always be free

DREAMING OF INSPIRATION

A hammock, a mattress, a pillow for my head
After a long day, I've earned this rest
Drifting away to a world without stress

Dreaming of inspirational food
For the body
Craving poetic nourishment

Counting the seconds go by
Past and present friends still lie
Deep in my mind

Dreaming of inspirational words
For the mind
Just to create one poetic rhyme

A coalition of thoughts in my mind
Thinking I lost everything in life
When I wake everything is fine

Dreaming of inspirational sound
For the soul
Only the purple omens know

What is the artistic process
But he hasn't told me yet
In the vault is where it rests

THE ALCHEMY OF PEACE

There is a scientific equation to peace
Like global warming, it is what our leaders can't see

The alchemy of peace
Is one part you and another part me
Living in harmony

It is not a mixture of exploding things
It is the respect for life and all that it means

The alchemy of peace
Is the extraction of all impurities
Like war and inequality

There is no potion no magical elixir
It is learning from the past and being a forgiver

The alchemy of peace
Is the reaction of a dream to be free
In the incubator of the mind the only place it can be seen

CULTURE WAR

No one knows who I am
Even when I tell them over and over again
Like a book, you have to read me from the inside out
Take the time to see what I am about

Caught in a culture war
Why does it have to come to my door
In the night of a racist mind, it is boring
In the educated mind, it is always morning

A young boy was thrown to the floor
Is this what he came here for
A young girl with a knee in her back
Call for her mama does she know where she is at

Caught in a culture war
Why does it have to come to my door
Call Nine, one, one when breaking the rules of etiquette
Everyone knows the fork goes on the left

There is so much to this world, I want to experience it all and get my fill
Standing in one places does not get you over the hill
People who talking lies with no proof
They complain when faced with the real truth (yes Sarah I am talking about you)

Caught in a culture war
Why does it have to come to my door
Our nation is built on cultural appropriation
So many are sensitive they call it racism

White girls wanting to be black
Black girls wanting to be white girls wanting to be black
Is there cultural appropriation in that
We should look into those facts

Caught in a culture war
Why does it have to come to my door
In a shrinking world, we have become sensitive
We should adapt to our differences
