CULTURE WAR

No one knows who I am
Even when I tell them over and over again
Like a book, you have to read me from the inside out
Take the time to see what I am about

Caught in a culture war
Why does it have to come to my door
In the night of a racist mind, it is boring
In the educated mind, it is always morning

A young boy was thrown to the floor
Is this what he came here for
A young girl with a knee in her back
Call for her mama does she know where she is at

Caught in a culture war
Why does it have to come to my door
Call Nine, one, one when breaking the rules of etiquette
Everyone knows the fork goes on the left

There is so much to this world, I want to experience it all and get my fill
Standing in one places does not get you over the hill
People who talking lies with no proof
They complain when faced with the real truth (yes Sarah I am talking about you)

Caught in a culture war
Why does it have to come to my door
Our nation is built on cultural appropriation
So many are sensitive they call it racism

White girls wanting to be black
Black girls wanting to be white girls wanting to be black
Is there cultural appropriation in that
We should look into those facts

Caught in a culture war
Why does it have to come to my door
In a shrinking world, we have become sensitive
We should adapt to our differences

POEM OF 97

Rush of water
Brown and dark
Wave after wave
Taring the ground apart

Thoughts of what tomorrow might bring
More of what we don't need
Or is it what we need
We just can't see

Waters cold and cruel
Grow as the move
The emotionless flow of water where will it go

Blame the water for the destruction
When you lived in its way
Maybe it returns to reclaim its home

Strong of heart
Weak of soul
What we don't know
Be the ugly truth we hold

The cold water threats
The closer it gets
So many regrets
Closer and closer to the door
Bag after bag of sand
Will the wall hold

Without a fight, you will not go
Now it is a lack you own

SO COOL

You are so cool
In the things that you do
You are so cool
There is no one like you

I am a fool
To think I could be that cool
If I try too
It would embarrass you

You are so cool
From the heals on your boots
You are so cool
To the way you wear your suits

I got to prove
That my talents are worthy of you
Got to try
To make my own style

You are so cool
In the way that you walk
You are so cool
In the way that you talk

I got to hear
The words that inspire the mind
I got see
Your dove fly high

You are so cool
No one can be like you
You are so cool
These purple owmens are you

WHITE TEARS

Hate and fear looking for attention
Believing everything told to you without any proof
Their power comes from your lack of education

White tears are colored with ignorance

Hate does not make you a hero
Just make you lose your job
Now your a zero

White tears are colored with fear

Other people that don't look like you
Not living the way you think they should
Call someone to correct them is what you do

White tears are colored with arrogance

Don't get your way have a tantrum
When no one thinks you in the right
Got nothing to say now you play the victim

White tears are colored with hate

Mother prays for her son to see another day
They can't respect an open hand shoot him is the only plan
Now the proof of innocence is on the victim when their voice is dead

These tears of pain and love are clear

DRISHTI

Something is hidden inside me
Something that would make me free
Living in the struggle of dreams and reality

Somehow you looked deep within
Like I am a long lost friend
With drishti in your eyes

What is in me I can't see
What I really can be
I have to convince only me

You see my third eye
Like a grandmother at a visiting child
With drishti in your eyes

SUGAR WELL

Caught up in my own thoughts
Look to the internet to get out of this loneliness
Why do I let my mind turn to it

Sugar well
Some were between heaven and hell
She got the sweets she tries to sell

My mind tries to play the master
In the vice, I am captured
Causing my own pain with the click of every page

Sugar well
Am I caught in a spell
No matter how high it always hurts when I fell

Why confess my sins just to prove how blessed I am
Down in the depths without a friend
Under my own power, I pull myself up from the depths

Sugar well
If love is fraudulent how do I tell
In these feelings, I do not want to dwell

WISH

Wish I could slice through life and take only what I like
Learn from my wrongs and leave them behind
Take my rights and always live in the light

Never wanting to walk in darkness just want to walk the path of kindness
Never wanting to win a fight just want to be blessed
Just want to feel the high of life

Wish I could pick the nostalgic moments of life take only what I like
Let them play over and over in my mind wouldn't that be fine
Leaving everyone wondering where I have been

Never had desires for royal things just simplicity that never will spoil
Never had artificial high never was apart of those circles to let me try
Just want to experience life

Wish I could have confidence turn my back on negative words from so-called friends
Forget the moments of regret don't let anyone live in my head without paying rent
I must like myself before letting anyone in
